What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is based on psychology and neuroscience. It uses a state of relaxation to focus the mind. This may sound contradictory, but it works because your conscious mind relaxes, enabling your subconscious mind to really focus.
As an imperfect analogy, think of your favorite app. Once in a while, you are asked to update the app. After the update, new coding gets popped in, and suddenly the problem is magically gone.
Our minds work in a similar way. We may consciously identify a problem. But try as we might, it stays exactly as it is. Sometimes, it's because we have thought patterns, like app coding, written in our subconscious or inner minds. Hypnotherapy allows us to use our subconscious to find the problematic thought pattern, change it, and thus create a new behaviour. All of sudden, it feels like the problem magically disappears!
Although a relaxed state (aka trance) is not necessary, trance can make this process more efficient or effective. During hypnotherapy, you are always completely and fully in control of your thoughts and actions. You are not asleep. You are awake - but your conscious mind is relaxed. Your subconscious mind is doing all the work.
